Top Trends in Consumer Storage

Senior Vice President for Sales & Marketing (APJ region), Teh Ban Seng, shares his outlook on emerging consumer storage trends. He says that data consumption is growing faster than before, and outlines three key trends driving the storage industry. They are:
  • First trend: The way consumers are accessing the Internet and the devices by which they are accessing the Internet from. Tablets and smartphones are expected to make up the bulk of such access devices. However, these devices are limited by their small internal capacities.

Seagate's solution to bridging the storage gap is the FreeAgent GoFlex SatelliteTM wireless portable solution that puts up to 500GB of storage in consumers' pocket for easy access to their content anywhere.

  • Second trend: Faster performance and the demand for instant-on accessibility.

Seagate's Momentus® XT is the hybrid drive that combines the instant-on feature of a solid state drive with the extra capacity of a hard disk drive. It is a game-changer that provides superior performance and large capacity at the same time.

  • Third trend: Cloud computing where users store vast amount of data up in the cloud.

Seagate is the leading provider in enterprise storage products and we'll continue to work with channel partners and customers to deliver solutions for large data storage such as data centres or for private clouds deployment.
Teh also shares his insights on the importance of channel partners' contribution to overall Seagate's business, and highlights strategies to engage channel partners for better capitalisation on these trends.
